Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area
Located an hour north of Houston in the Sam Houston National Forest, Stubblefield Lake Recreation Area offers a variety of outdoor experiences. It is a prime spot for fishing, camping, picnicking and hiking. The closest town to the recreation area is Waverly, which offers shopping and dining.
Stubblefield offers tent camping and camping trailer sites. Camping, without utility hookups and one vehicle requires a fee. With a senior pass or Access Pass that rate drops. Amenities include picnic tables, drinking water and flush toilets with showers.
The campground is capable of holding RVs up to 28 feet long. Tent pads are provided for tent campers. For those who are interested in picnicking, there are picnic tables, barbecue grills and lantern posts available at each campsite. Drinking water is available just a short distance from each of the campsites.

Day hiking is available with a variety of trails available in the Sam Houston National Forest. It is a prime location for bird watching, wildlife viewing, fishing and more. The area is a great place for non-motorized boating, such as canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.
Both lake and pond fishing are available at the recreation area, with bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill being common in the lake as well as the stocked pond. Stubblefield Recreation Area is conveniently located.
